What Is A CNAME Record

CNAME records are "canonical name" records used to point an entry to another name. Most sub-domains are set up as CNAME records. For example, You may have mail set up to go to ghs.google.com. This way when you go to mail.domain.com you will be sent to your Google Apps server even though your URL still shows mail.domain.com
