A WordPress blog post is similar to a web page in the way that it is a specific area on your website. However, posts appear within a blog section in reverse chronological order. This article will take you through the steps of writing and publishing a post on your WordPress website.
Click “Settings” from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen. Then click “Reading”.
2. Specify the destination page to display your posts.
In this step, you will determine which of the pages you have previously created that would like your blog posts to appear on.
3. Edit the other options as you see fit.
You will see many other options on this page, such as “Blog posts per page”, and whether to show a full blog post or just a summary on the home screen. Depending on the type of blog and how you would like it to appear, you may want to change some of your WordPress settings.
Click the “Posts” tab on the WordPress sidebar.
Click “Add New”.
3. Enter a title and add the content you have written for your new blog post.
You will notice at this point in the steps that the page you create to write the blog post you are viewing looks very similar to that used to create a page. Within WordPress, it works in the same way. You will compose your post in the text editor and you can click to preview your work at any time.
You can also use different formats for each post. Those can be found on the right-hand side of the WordPress editor.
4. Add Tags
Tags will help people navigate your website, find specific topics, and increase your SEO value (Search Engine Optimization). Make sure that the tags you create are simple and specific.
5. Click “Publish.
After clicking “Publish”, your post will appear under the page you specified when completing Step 1 and will be available to your website visitors.
The “Media” section of the WordPress sidebar allows you to upload images, audio, and video to use in your blog posts or on website pages. WordPress makes uploading media very simple. You can simply drag and drop files onto the WordPress page, or use the upload button and select a file from within your computer files.
After you have uploaded a file, simply insert it into a blog post by clicking the “Add Media” button on the post page as seen below.
