Anyone can look up the owner of a domain at any time through the WHOIS registry. An anonymous domain blocks users from seeing this information.

Anonymous Domain is a service offered by domain registrars which allows registration of a domain without making the personal details of the owner publicly available. This is sometimes referred to as domain privacy. You can purchase domain privacy during the time that you register a domain or through the CHI control panel if you wish.

Having an anonymous domain will prevent you from receiving spam email from anyone who views your websites ownership record. If you registered a website and are receiving a large amount of spam, consider purchasing domain privacy.
